Job Description

Operational Technical Services (OTS) is one of the fastest growing private water and wastewater utility staffing providers in the country. We provide certified water treatment, distribution, wastewater treatment, collections, engineering, laboratory, water quality, maintenance, and training professionals to municipalities, special districts, and private utilities throughout the country. POSITION: Assistant Project Manager

PAY RATE: $40.86 - $50.48/hr

SCHEDULE: Hours 7:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m., Monday - Friday. Availability for standby duty and the ability to be "on-call," working evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. Response to emergency events and alarm call-outs as scheduled and required.

LOCATION: Manatee County, FL

Responsible for the day-to-day operations, maintenance and management, administrative duties, and maintaining close client communications. You will oversee a staff of 19+ employees in the daily operations and maintenance of both water and wastewater treatment facilities, collections, distribution and customer service-related duties.

The Assistant Project Manager will play an active role in the coordination and communication with assigned staff, client representatives, contractors, and any assigned engineering firms. He or she will also work closely with all parties to ensure effective system operation and optimization. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing hands-on work and producing all required reports. He or she will coordinate the on-going daily operation of the utility system.

DUTIES:

  • Day-to-day operations and management of all water, wastewater, and reclaimed water facilities.
  • Day-to-day operations and management of a SCADA System and remote communications network.
  • Implementation and management of an innovative predictive maintenance management program.
  • Administration and implementation of all routine and capital repair and replacement projects.
  • Emergency response for process upsets, equipment failures, force majeure events, all alarm events etc.
  • Provision of requested / required operations and compliance reporting to regulatory agencies and municipality.
  • Management and oversight of a large Capital Improvement Plan.
  • Collaborate with engineers on future planning and ongoing construction administration.
  • Attending council meetings and present project update presentations.
  • Provide Client relations.
  • Promote and develop staff members.
  • Working with the Health and Safety Team on all safety-related issues, including but not limited to, development and implementation of the project-specific safety plan, reporting of incidents, and supporting the investigation of incidents.
  • Review development plans and permits and attend pre-construction meetings.

REQUIREMENTS

  • A valid State of Florida Water and/or Wastewater Treatment Plant Operators license is preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, Construction Science/Management, Engineering, or equivalent field is preferred; equivalent work experience, or combination of work and education, may be substituted.
  • Ability to make sound decisions in process control and follow instructions, as well as follow safety procedures.
  • Successful candidates will be required to complete a background check, pre-placement physical and drug screen before employment.
  • 5 to 10 years' experience in managing complex water and/or wastewater facilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

MUST HAVES FOR ROLE:

  • Utility Pants: Employees must wear durable utility pants suitable for the work environment.
  • Safety Shoes: Steel-toed or other appropriate safety shoes are mandatory to protect against workplace hazards.
  • Candidates must consent to and pass a background check and drug screening as part of the hiring process.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
