Job Description

A high-growth tech company is seeking a contract Legal Operations Specialist to support its Litigation & Regulatory Compliance function. This professional will play a key role in implementing updated Law Firm Billing and Practice Guidelines, improving internal legal billing processes, and partnering cross-functionally with Legal and Finance to monitor, forecast, and manage legal spend.

This is a great opportunity for a legal operations professional with strong legal billing systems experience (especially Brightflag) and a passion for improving processes and building scalable infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Roll out and implement updated Law Firm Billing and Practice Guidelines across internal teams and outside counsel
  • Collaborate with Legal and Finance to manage budgets, accruals, forecasting, and spend reporting
  • Drive improvements to legal billing operations, including invoice review workflows, vendor compliance, and system optimization
  • Monitor legal spend and support financial planning activities related to outside counsel management
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for billing software troubleshooting, vendor billing questions, and data accuracy
  • Ensure accuracy and compliance in all billing-related submissions and processes

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in legal operations, legal billing, or legal finance roles in an in-house legal department or law firm
  • Experience using Brightflag or similar e-billing platforms (e.g., Legal Tracker, CounselLink, SimpleLegal)
  • Deep understanding of legal billing processes, vendor management, and law firm billing guidelines
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate across Legal, Finance, and external vendors
  • Analytical, detail-oriented, and proactive in identifying process improvements
  • Comfortable working independently and managing high-impact, cross-functional projects

Preferred Experience:

  • Prior experience in a tech or consumer-facing company
  • Familiarity with legal spend analytics or financial tools
  • Experience leading or supporting billing guideline implementation and legal spend management initiatives
