The role

We are seeking a dynamic and goal-oriented Business Unit Manager for our Taste Modulation Solutions Division to join our team. Reporting directly to the Chief Commercial Officer, Tom d’Hoore, the ideal candidate is expected to ensure global sales health of its application area as well as spearheading growth and formulating a tactical and strategic plan to position the business for success in the assigned markets leading a great hybrid team.

Location:

Cincinnati, Ohio, US; with strong willingness and availability for frequent travel worldwide.

Key responsibilities:

  • Complete P&L Responsibility.
  • Develop a solid business development strategy (able to get new accounts in the market).
  • Develop and implement a business strategy and plan for the assigned market segment.
  • Conceive and implement market segmentation strategies to maximize penetration.
  • Establish the sales policy and emerging channels for the product lines.
  • Responsibility over global customers to ensure maximum sales penetration.
  • Develop and implement pricing strategies for product lines.
  • Direct the development and implementation of specific programs for key accounts as well as for special markets to achieve the commercial objectives of the assigned areas.
  • Lead the commercial team in charge, as a coach leader (development of employees).
  • Coordinate with cross-functional colleagues to provide a seamless go-to market approach.
  • Collaborate with marketing in advertising and product promotion programs.
  • Manage the supply chain to support sales objectives.
  • Maintain a high level of market information through judicious use of industry contacts, trade associations, consultants and the trade press.
  • Develop understanding of product applications, emerging trends and technologies and competitive positioning, as well as the product's ability to expand into niche markets.
  • Develop and implement innovation programs to find new uses for existing product lines.
  • In support of new and existing product sales, directs the efforts of innovation functions to respond to the various client requests.
  • Ensure a consistent portfolio of high-quality product development projects that are consistent with the company's growth objectives.
  • In an aligned manner with leadership team, identify and evaluate possible strategic alliances and procurement candidates to complement strategic objectives.
  • Responsibility for articulating the necessary resources to support the activities of the regions.

In essence, role ensures the growth for one of the most important divisions of the company.

Qualifications/Requirements:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Business Administration, Management, Finance, or a related field. MBA or other relevant advanced degree (preferred).

Experience:

  • 10+ years in senior management roles, preferably within multinational companies, at least 7 of them in sales area.
  • Proven success in managing operations, financial performance, and business development in the U.S. market.
  • Industry-specific experience related to the company’s sector.
  • New business development (hunting) and account management skills (farming).

  • Strategic Thinking: Global and business mindset, with the ability to develop and execute market-specific strategies.

  • Financial Acumen: Proficiency in financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, and profitability oversight.
  • Adaptability: Strong adaptability and resilience, able to thrive in a fast-changing environment.
  • Digital Skills: Experience working with digital tools like CRM systems.
  • Availability for Travel: Strong willingness and availability for frequent travel.
  • Communication Skills: Fluency in English (Spanish proficiency preferred), with strong written and verbal communication.
