Job Description

Kelly Science & Clinical is currently seeking candidates for a Direct Hire Formulation Chemist at a coatings company in NW Houston. The overall responsibility of this role is to formulate coatings technologies to support the needs of the company’s customers.

Job Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with other R&D team members to formulate coatings based on established guidelines
• Perform benchwork to include formulating samples, evaluating their performance, and making necessary adjustments to meet customer needs
• Interpret test results and prepare reports and presentations for both internal and external customers
• Assist with field trials of new products in addition to the scale-up of products from laboratory to production
• Troubleshoot customer problems in the areas of appearance, workability, color, and performance
• Research and evaluate alternative and backup raw materials
• Monitor current literature, trends, and patent activity on coating technology

Job Requirements:

• BS/MS/PhD in Chemistry, Polymer Science, or related discipline
• 3-7 years of experience as a Chemist in coatings development and supporting a manufacturing facility
• Formulation experience of Epoxy and Urethane coatings is preferred
• Ability to manage priorities, complex situations, and tight deadlines
• Problem analysis and resolution experience
• Oral and written communication skills including formal presentations
