Job Description

Communications Specialist

Pay rate: $30-$33/hr

Location: San Antonio, TX ( HYBRID schedule)

Duration: 3 + month contract

This position requires the employee to assist with researching and writing internal and external communications. Communications pieces are published both internally on the intranet and externally on the organization's website. This position interfaces between creative, technical, and all levels of management in a rapidly changing environment. This position provides creative direction in designing and developing products that support business strategies and fills the needs of specific customer groups.

Responsibilities include:

  • Research
  • Interviewing
  • Copywriting
  • Editing
  • Approval routing
  • Creating engaging content
  • Tracking tasks in a web-based project management platform
  • Corresponding with stakeholders and leadership
  • Using Excel and other MS Office apps to report and exchange data
  • Keeping communications projects on schedule

This position requires flexibility the ability to motivate others, excellent written and verbal communication skills, critical thinking skills, and learning and retaining knowledge. In addition, basic computer skills-- MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, Windows internet browsers, etc. --are required.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 1-2 years of copywriting or professional experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in English, marketing, communications, advertising, journalism or related field or bachelor's degree with 3-5 years of professional experience.
  • 2-5 years of professional experience in marketing, communications, digital communications, or a related field
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office suite and web-based platforms
  • Working knowledge of AP Style
