CNC Setup Technician – Swiss CNC (Star or Similar)

An established precision manufacturing company is seeking an experienced CNC Setup Technician to perform and oversee complex setups on Swiss CNC lathes (Star or similar) used to produce high-precision, tight-tolerance components. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented machining professional who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and takes pride in producing top-quality work.

Key Responsibilities:

• Set up and operate Swiss CNC lathes to meet exacting specifications and tolerances.
• Collaborate with engineering and programming teams to refine machining strategies and improve cycle times.
• Troubleshoot tooling, program, and quality issues to maintain production flow and minimize downtime.
• Train and mentor setup technicians and operators to build team capability and consistency.
• Inspect and approve first articles to ensure all GD&T requirements are achieved.
• Create and update setup sheets, documentation, and process improvements for repeatability.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce waste, boost throughput, and extend tool life.
• Ensure machines are maintained and operating at peak performance through preventive maintenance.
• Serve as a liaison between production, quality, and engineering to ensure alignment and efficiency.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience with Swiss CNC lathes (Star or comparable equipment).
• Strong foundation in precision machining and the ability to interpret technical drawings .
• Commitment to maintaining high quality standards and process consistency.
