Director of Barbering - Douglas J Aveda Institutes & Salons, based in East Lansing, MI

The Director of Barbering is a pivotal leadership role overseeing the barbering programs operating at our East Lansing and Knoxville locations and serving as a resource to our Lincoln location. This individual will be the foremost subject matter expert in barbering education delivery standards, Barber student & student Barber Instructor training, and the overall quality of education, providing input in curriculum development and student kits.

Key Responsibilities:

• Directly teach barbering courses, embodying the highest standards of the profession.
• Directly oversee Barber Educators and Student Educators, ensuring consistent, high-quality instruction.
• Teach and train new Student Educators, guiding them towards licensure.
• Ensure a supportive and inclusive environment for students.
• Oversee student retention and success.
• Foster relationships with industry professionals and alumni.
• Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness, implementing improvements as needed.
• Oversee and enhance the barbering curriculum to meet state requirements and industry trends.

• Licensed Barber Instructor with a minimum of 3 years of experience.
• Proven leadership and management skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to stay current with industry trends and regulations.
• Experience in training and mentoring new instructors a plus, but not required.
