Job Title: Director of Manufacturing Operations

Location: On Site - Wilmington, North Carolina, United States (Travel Required)

Salary: $150,000 - $180,000

Our client, a dynamic company in the manufacturing industry, is seeking a Director of Manufacturing Operations to oversee and optimize multi-site operations. This opportunity offers the chance to lead critical initiatives, drive continuous improvement, and ensure operational excellence across facilities. Based in Wilmington, North Carolina, this role involves strategic leadership and hands-on execution to meet customer commitments and business objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all operational functions to meet customer commitments, including on-time shipments, quality assurance, and cost objectives.
  • Lead site-level operations teams to optimize order processing, inventory management, receiving, shipping, and returns.
  • Ensure appropriate staffing levels aligned with operational needs and budgetary targets.
  • Develop and execute operational policies aimed at increasing competitiveness and profitability.
  • Identify and lead initiatives to enhance productivity, minimize waste and scrap, and maintain production standards.
  • Implement training programs to standardize and elevate performance across all facilities.
  • Direct capital expenditure plans and manage major operational projects (e.g., facility reconfiguration, new equipment installations).
  • Utilize Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies to drive operational efficiency.

Must-Have Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in manufacturing operations, preferably in metal fabrication or a related industry.
  • Experience managing multi-site operations.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing methods, equipment, and process improvement strategies.
  • Background in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement frameworks.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

  • Experience developing and implementing SOPs across multiple sites.
  • Ability to travel domestically 60% of the time.
  • Strong quality assurance experience within manufacturing operations.
  • Metal fabrication industry expertise.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and collaboration skills across organizational levels and external stakeholders.
