Building relationships, community, and especially the bond between people and their dogs. Teach Puppy, basic and intermediate obedience classes. More classes/types of classes TBD.

We are expanding our team and looking for a part-time (20-30 hrs/wk) experienced Dog Trainer. The ideal candidate will be outgoing, creative, and energetic, with the presence to take charge of a room of nervous dog owners. People skills are just as important as dog training at Pet Supplies Plus.

As a Trainer, you will:

• Lead classes of up to 6 dogs and their owners.
• Create a training curriculum with your knowledge and experience.
• Ensure canine and human safety in the facility.
• Build relationships with neighbors to add value and encourage retention.
• Consult with neighbors between classes, getting to know them and their dog(s) to make appropriate recommendations.
• Conduct Evaluations for client prospects with the goal of them purchasing a class.
• Maintain a friendly, positive, non-judgmental attitude. Pet Supplies Plus strives to be a “embarrassment-free zone.”
• Assist neighbors in fitting harnesses and educate neighbors on training tools and applications.
• Keep a tidy and clean training area in our large community room.
• Attend marketing events to grow the business.
• Participate in posting on social media to share the good news about our offerings for neighbors.
• Assist in store tasks as requested during down time from training.

What We’re Looking For:

• Dog training experience. We are open to various backgrounds and experience levels, but you should have a good working knowledge of dog-related topics and the ability to communicate effectively with clients.
• A passion for relationship building training methods.
• A true comprehension of operant conditioning.
• Energy and enthusiasm. Ability to maintain a high level of engagement class after class.
• An open, friendly, and helpful attitude with neighbors and team members.
• A track record of reliability.
• Comfortable working with technology, including our POS system and social media.
• Able to lift 30 pounds.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Willing to submit to a background check.

Pay: $23-28 per hour with commission structure
