Overview

We are seeking a proactive and service-oriented Senior Building Engineer to oversee day-to-day facilities operations across a multi-floor corporate office in Midtown Manhattan. This role blends technical expertise with a hospitality mindset to ensure a seamless and welcoming workplace experience.

Key Responsibilities:

Daily Facilities Oversight

• Conduct morning walkthroughs to inspect restrooms, lighting, fire extinguishers, and water systems.
• Monitor HVAC and UPS battery systems monthly.
• Respond to service requests via Service Channel, assessing whether tasks require vendor support or can be handled in-house.
• Manage small projects such as millwork installations, cable routing, and electrical upgrades.

Event & Office Support

• Assist with event setup and breakdown, including furniture moves.
• Support snack stocking and lunch coordination when needed.
• Help assign seating and coordinate employee moves.
• Escort vendors (e.g., exterminators, electricians) and partner on vendor management.

Maintenance & Troubleshooting

• Perform light repairs (e.g., refrigerators, doors) and assess issues for escalation.
• Collaborate with building engineers, plumbers, and HVAC contractors as needed.

Communication & Coordination

• Partner with the office coordinator and facilities lead to ensure smooth operations.
• Monitor shared facilities mailbox and respond to inquiries.
• Support internal communications related to facilities updates.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in building operations or facilities engineering, ideally in a corporate or hospitality setting.
• Strong interpersonal skills with a customer-first mindset.
• Self-starter who thrives with minimal supervision and takes initiative.
• General knowledge of building systems and maintenance practices.
• Familiarity with Service Channel or similar work order platforms (preferred).
