The Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene is seeking qualified candidates to fill two temporary, part-time Field Interviewer positions for the Diversion Center in the Division of Forensic Services (DFS) at the New York State (NYS) Office of Mental Health (OMH).

The chosen candidates will assist on an evaluation of Diagnostic Assessment Stabilization Hub (DASH), a crisis stabilization center (CSC) located in Hauppauge, NY. DASH supports law enforcement partners in responding to adults in crisis throughout Suffolk County by providing both drop off and telehealth crisis services. The present evaluation study seeks to conduct 60 one-hour in-person interviews with adults who have received crisis services from DASH. Participant interviews may primarily cluster around Hauppauge, Riverhead and Southampton.

This position entails intermittent work. Training and Equipment will be provided. The chosen candidates must be comfortable meeting with individuals in person.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Contact potential study participants to schedule interviews
• Conduct at least 30 in-person interviews with adults who received services at DASH participants
• Input interview data in electronic instrument
• Submit interview recordings at the completion of the interview or as soon as possible
• Participate in training and ongoing data collection meetings.

Minimum Qualifications:

• A bachelor's degree; OR high school diploma (or equivalent) plus 4 years of experience serving clients involved in the behavioral health and/or criminal justice systems
• At least one year of experience in crisis management
• Proficiency in English
• A valid driver's license and reliable transportation for the position

Preferred Qualifications:

• A background in criminal justice, psychology, social welfare or similar field
• Experience in administering interviews with behavioral health and/or justice involved populations from a trauma-informed approach
• Experience with using technology, such as a tablet, mobile devices and recording equipment
• Experience using online platforms to administer surveys/interviews
• Ability to have flexible work schedule.
