Job Description

Government & Education Contract Specialist

Location: Irving, TX (On-site)

Job Type: Full-time

Overview

Sound Production (SoundPro), the leader in Pro-AVL distribution and solutions, is seeking a driven, strategic, and highly motivated Government & Education Contract Specialist. This is a highly competitive sales role responsible for driving revenue growth through public sector opportunities. This position serves as the front line in identifying, qualifying, and winning contract bids across Federal, State, and Local government agencies as well as K-12 and higher education institutions.

The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, competitive environment and approaches every opportunity with a hunter’s mindset—constantly scanning for winnable bids, engaging directly with procurement officials, and crafting winning submissions. This role requires a strong self-starter who takes initiative, pushes for results, and embraces the challenge of winning deals in highly competitive markets.

Key Responsibilities

Opportunity Identification & Qualification

  • Use the company’s bid platform to review, track, and evaluate all available opportunities.
  • Exercise strong judgment in determining which solicitations are the right fit for direct bidding.
  • Prioritize bids based on revenue potential, company strengths, and competitive landscape.
  • Craft compelling bid narratives that highlight company differentiators and competitive advantages.
  • Monitor submission deadlines and manage multiple opportunities simultaneously with precision and urgency.

Direct Engagement with Procurement Officials

  • Proactively call and communicate with procurement officers, buyers, and contract managers to gather additional details beyond what’s in the solicitation.
  • Ask probing questions to uncover hidden needs, clarify ambiguous requirements, and strengthening proposal positioning.
  • Build credibility and trust with decision-makers to improve award potential.

Sales Mindset & Deal Ownership

  • Treat every opportunity as a competitive sales pursuit, driving aggressively toward a win.
  • Demonstrate persistence and creativity in positioning the company as the best solution provider.
  • Own the sales cycle from opportunity identification through award notification.
  • Collaborate with manufacture partners on bid opportunities and deal registrations.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in sales, business development, or government/education contracting.
  • Proven ability to win deals in highly competitive environments.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with comfort making outbound calls to procurement officials.
  • Highly motivated self-starter with a track record of taking initiative and driving results.
  • Exceptional organizational and time-management skills; thrives under pressure with tight deadlines.
  • Knowledge of public sector procurement processes (Federal, State, City, K-12, higher education) strongly preferred.
  • Experience with bid management platforms and CRM tools is a plus.
