Job Description

Position: Graphic Designer – Camo Pattern Design

Department: Pattern Development

Reports To: Sr. Director of Textiles

General Function:

The Graphic Designer – Camo Pattern Design plays a key role in developing, refining, and maintaining Realtree’s camouflage and lifestyle patterns. This position combines artistic creativity with technical precision to ensure that all pattern designs align with the brand’s visual identity, market needs, and licensing applications. The designer will work closely with the Pattern Development, Licensing, and Marketing teams to create compelling camouflage designs for apparel, gear, and outdoor products.

Responsibilities:

  • Concept, design, and refine camouflage and texture patterns for print, digital, and product applications.
  • Utilize high-resolution photography, vector illustration, and compositing techniques to achieve lifelike, innovative camo patterns.
  • Translate natural elements (trees, grass, terrain, etc.) into authentic and functional pattern environments.
  • Collaborate with textile engineers and film suppliers to ensure scalability, color accuracy, and repeat consistency for hydro graphics and fabric applications.
  • Support new pattern development initiatives from concept through commercialization.
  • Prepare production-ready pattern files with precise repeat, color separation, and layer management.
  • Assist with digital color matching, tonal adjustments, and revisions based on testing feedback.
  • Maintain internal pattern library and ensure all digital assets meet quality and branding standards.
  • Work with vendors and printers to ensure fidelity across multiple substrates (fabric, vinyl, film, etc.).
  • Partner with the Licensing and Marketing departments to integrate patterns into consumer products and promotional materials.
  • Participate in creative brainstorming sessions to explore new pattern styles and seasonal trends.
  • Provide design support for related brand assets including packaging, logo placement, and pattern applications.
  • Contribute to brand storytelling through visually consistent camouflage design language.

Required Experience and Proficiencies:

  • Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, Illustration, or related field.
  • 3+ years of professional design experience; outdoor, camouflage, or textile design background preferred.
  • Proven portfolio demonstrating expertise in natural or environmental pattern creation.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
  • Strong understanding of pattern repeats system, color separation, and surface design.
  • Experience with digital printing, hydrographic film, or textile production workflows preferred.
  • Familiarity with CAD or 3D visualization tools a plus.
  • Core Competencies:
  • Exceptional eye for detail, texture, and realism.
  • Ability to blend creative artistry with technical precision.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills across departments.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple design projects simultaneously.

Education:

  • Degree in Design or Equivalent

Experience:

  • Must have worked as a designer for 5+ years
