Department: Surgical Pathology

Assignment Type: Contract (30 Weeks)

Shift: Monday to Friday, 12:00 AM – 8:00 AM (includes 30 min break)

Start Date: May 19, 2025

End Date: December 20, 2025

Job Description:

NewYork-Presbyterian Weill Cornell Medical Center is seeking a dedicated and experienced Histology Technician to join our Surgical Pathology department for a 30-week contract assignment. This role is critical in covering a full-time equivalent leave of absence and supports our overnight operations in histology specimen preparation.

Responsibilities:

Prepare and process biopsy and dermatological tissue specimens
Operate and maintain the histology lab equipment
Perform embedding, cutting, staining, and slide preparation with precision
Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with lab protocols
Collaborate with pathology staff to ensure timely and high-quality results

Requirements:

Associate’s Degree in Science and completion of an accredited Histology program, or Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent relevant experience
Active New York State license as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist, Certified Histology Technician, or Clinical Lab Technician (issued by NYS Education Department)
Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in histology, including work with biopsy specimens and dermatological samples
Excellent technical skills and attention to detail
Computer literacy preferred
Strong communication and teamwork skills
