Title: Human Resources Intern

Department: Human Resources

Shift: As the intern's schedule allows, typically 4+ hour shifts between 9am and 5pm

Job Purpose

Are you a true public servant, ready to assist with the order and organization of several basic HR functions, documents, and resources? If so, you may be a great fit to grow your knowledge of Human Resources and municipal government with University City. This unpaid internship performs routine and beginner professional, administrative, and technical HR activities. The intern will get exposure to the hiring process, benefit processing, maintenance of personnel files, forms, and reporting. This position may be able to help or learn about the application of routine city personnel rules and regulations, problem solving, and HR technology.

The City of University City possesses approximately 265 full-time and 50-100 part-time or seasonal employees. This includes a 100-person police department and 50-person fire department. Human Resources serves across eight departments, and is responsible for providing professional, confidential, administrative support and leadership in the areas listed below.
