The Role We Want You For

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented In-House Janitorial Manager to oversee custodial operations in a large commercial building. This role is responsible for ensuring a clean, safe, and well-maintained environment for tenants, employees, and visitors. The Janitorial Manager will directly supervise janitorial staff, coordinate daily cleaning schedules, manage supplies and equipment, and ensure compliance with building health and safety standards.

The Specifics of the Role

  • Hire, train, and manage janitorial staff, including shift scheduling and task assignments.
  • Provide coaching and performance evaluations to maintain service quality.
  • Ensure adequate staffing coverage for daily operations, events, and emergencies.
  • Develop and oversee cleaning programs tailored to the building’s needs (offices, restrooms, common areas, etc.).
  • Conduct routine inspections to ensure cleanliness, safety, and compliance with standards.
  • Respond promptly to tenant or management service requests.
  • Maintain supplies of cleaning products, paper goods, and janitorial equipment.
  • Coordinate preventive maintenance and repairs for equipment.
  • Track usage to manage costs and reduce waste.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and building safety protocols.
  • Oversee training on safe chemical handling and equipment use.
  • Support emergency response and sanitation procedures as required.
  • Assist with budget planning for janitorial supplies, staffing, and equipment.
  • Maintain records of inspections, incidents, and work orders.
  • Recommend process improvements for efficiency and cost savings.

Requirements

  • 3–7 years of experience in janitorial services management, custodial supervision, or facility operations (commercial environment preferred).
  • Education: High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor’s degree a plus.
  • Experience managing janitorial operations in high-traffic or multi-tenant facilities.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Knowledge of commercial cleaning practices, equipment, and safety standards.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff, tenants, and management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and work order systems.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
  • Certifications in custodial management, green cleaning, or OSHA safety preferred.
