Job Details
Title: Estimator
Responsibilities/Essential Job Functions:
-Review construction documents and specifications
-Prepare cost estimates for quantity, cost and shop/field labor time needed for structural steel and miscellaneous metals fabrication and installation (erection)
-Coordinate scope changes and prepare estimating changes and writing of change orders
-Coordinate and effectively communicate with project managers, construction managers, general contractors, and owners, as needed
-Create and maintain positive relationships with clients
-Coordinate trade specific work with project managers, material suppliers and detailers
-Attend descope and project team meetings, as required
-Able to work in a collaborative team environment
-Work harmoniously with project team/CM
-Work with project managers to coordinate, plan and schedule material deliveries, shop drawing submittals, and project deliverables during the initial stages of projects
-Evaluate schedule and cost impacts related to construction document revisions and ensure scope changes are properly documented and communicated to all pertaining team members
-Provide direction to project managers and detailers to incorporate scope revisions
Requirements/Qualifications/Experience:
-Estimating experience in the construction field a plus
-Construction and/or engineering background preferred
-Strong leadership and management skills
-Organized and excellent time management skills
-Ability to multitask and work on several projects at a time
-Excellent written and oral communication skills
-Prior experience with Bluebeam/Adobe and use of Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, etc.)
-Proficient with Tekla PowerFab a plus
-Strong attention to detail
-Ability to take direction and communicate effectively
-Ability to read construction documents and shop drawings/blueprints
-Self-motivated and positive attitude
-Ability to problem solve and make decisions
