SUMMARY:
Tucker-Reeves Associates is seeking a PROSE Evaluation Specialist to help support a Federal Program at the Austin Information Technology Center (AITC) in Austin with the US Department of Veterans Affairs. The FMS Code/Jobs and PROSE Evaluation Specialist to support the transition from CA7 to Control-M by evaluating and refining PROSE job documentation. This role involves assessing job documentation, ensuring accuracy, and aligning it with the FMS SNAP process to streamline restore procedures. This position will be a hybrid of remote delivery with occasional on-site visits.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
PROSE Entry Identification & Transition Support:
- Determine and generate a comprehensive inventory of all PROSE entries.
- Download PROSE entries into a Partitioned Data Set (PDS) for ease of review and analysis.
- Ensure consistency of PROSE documentation for smooth transition from CA7 to Control-M.
Job Inventory & Classification:
- Develop an inventory of active and inactive jobs, including all relevant details.
- Categorize jobs based on current operational status and identify outdated or redundant entries.
PROSE & Job Evaluation:
- Compare PROSE documentation with current job configurations to identify inconsistencies.
- Modify, add, or delete job steps as necessary to align with current execution processes.
- Identify restore instructions for job recovery scenarios, including DASD updates.
- Assess the placement of FMS SNAP jobs and recommend adding SNAP jobs where necessary.
Code Review & Documentation Enhancement:
- Evaluate active COBOL and SAS code to extract meaningful insights and ensure PROSE accuracy.
- Update PROSE to reflect job dependencies, restore instructions, and system interactions based on code comments and job execution logs.
New PROSE Documentation:
- Develop PROSE documentation for active jobs that currently lack documentation.
- Adherence to FMS documentation standards, mirroring formats used in existing PROSE entries.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- 5+ years of experience in mainframe batch job scheduling and execution.
- Expertise in CA7 and Control-M job scheduling systems.
- Strong knowledge of COBOL, SAS, and JCL.
- Familiarity with FMS job processing standards and restore procedures.
- Experience working with PROSE documentation and creating technical documentation for job execution.
- Understanding of DASD updates, FMS SNAP processes, and disaster recovery strategies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to evaluate job dependencies and optimize scheduling.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Prior experience with VA FMS systems and mainframe transitions.
- Knowledge of federal financial systems and their batch processing requirements.
- Experience in automating job documentation updates using scripting or reporting tools.
