Job Description

This is a 20-hour/week part-time position and is fully remote.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Collaborates with the Director of Evidence-Based Medicine Initiatives, physician task force members, and other stakeholders (as needed) to conduct systematic literature searches of electronic databases to support the development of evidence-based, clinical practice guidelines.
  • Documents, develops, and maintains files of all the search strategies and search results identified and retrieved.
  • Interprets and communicates the systematic literature search processes and search results to the Director of Evidence-Based Medicine Initiatives, guidelines task force members and Guideline Committees.
  • Provides the Director of Evidence-Based Medicine Initiatives with status reports regarding the literature searches of guideline projects; prepares internal and external memos, reports, documents, correspondence, and documents activities on projects.
  • Obtains, orders, tracks, and delivers full-text articles as requested by guidelines task force members.
  • Monitors the activity of the published literature of CNS clinical practice guideline topics and other neurosurgical relevant externally produced guidelines.
  • Assists Associate Director of Evidence-Based Medicine Initiatives with dissemination/implementation initiatives.
  • Coordinates with IT department and Director of Evidence-Based Medicine Initiatives to maintain the Guidelines mobile app content, and prepare and post updates for the app.
  • Schedules, records, edits and publishes the CNS Guideline Podcasts.
  • Submits and reviews abstracts of guidelines to GIN.
  • Ensures maintenance of and assists with the creation of project files according to applicable regulations, guidelines, and corporate policy and procedures
  • Adheres to the guideline development, dissemination, and implementation processes/procedures and collaborates with the Director of Evidence-Based Medicine Initiatives to create guideline relevant processes and procedures.

Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Minimum two years’ experience, preferably in a medical/physician association.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Experience in utilizing internet searches with Medline or PubMed along with an analytical approach to technical or scientific materials preferred.
  • Familiarity with MeSH headings, vocabulary, syntax, filters, and Boolean logic required for systematic and comprehensive searches of PubMed and other electronic databases.
  • Experience with database management is preferred; ability to manage and maintain data records with accuracy.
  • Strong computer skills required, including expertise with Microsoft suite software: Outlook, Word, Access, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with citation management software (e.g., Endnote).
  • Ability to effectively interact and collaborate with volunteer leaders.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Work with minimal supervision and exercise independent judgment and tact.
  • Excellent writing, grammatical, and proofreading skills required.
  • Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills required.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in a remote environment. Work may be frequently interrupted. The employee will spend the majority of the workday sitting, computing, and talking/hearing. May require lifting (boxes) in the 10-25 lb. range requiring the ability to bend at the waist and knee.

Schedule and Travel Requirements

May require more than 20 hours per week to perform the essential duties of the position. Ability to travel to meetings at national, regional, or local venues and fulfill evening or weekend

obligations. No travel is required.

Starting salary of $45,000-$50,000, commensurate with experience.
