Payoff Specialist, Mortgage

Location: Meriden, CT

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM (100% Onsite)

Pay Rate: $19 – $21 per hour

Employment Type: Contract – Long Term (Potential for Contract-to-Hire)

Position Summary

Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking a Payoff Specialist for an onsite role in Meriden, Connecticut . This position is responsible for processing accurate and timely mortgage loan payoffs, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and internal guidelines. The ideal candidate will have strong mathematical and organizational skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and process payoff quotes and related documents accurately and within required timeframes.
  • Respond to inquiries and customer service requests related to payoffs.
  • Research and resolve issues, communicating effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Prepare and record release or discharge documents according to state laws and company standards.
  • Monitor all phases of the payoff process to ensure compliance with state, federal, and investor guidelines.
  • Maintain organized records and adhere to established procedures.
  • Perform additional administrative or operational duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience:

  • 1–3 years of experience in mortgage loan servicing or related financial processing preferred.
  • Cash processing experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of LPS servicing systems is beneficial.

Skills:

  • Strong mathematical and analytical abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Office applications.
  • Ability to multitask and perform in a fast-paced environment.

Work Environment

  • Standard office setting; onsite attendance is required.
  • Frequent sitting, standing, and use of hands for computer work.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 10 pounds may be required.
