Job Summary

Are you an experienced Payroll Tax Specialist with a sharp eye for detail and a knack for navigating multi-state payroll complexities? Spectrum Staffing Group is partnering with an innovative client looking for a Payroll Tax Specialist who can take ownership of payroll and tax processing with a high degree of autonomy. This role will be central to ensuring that all payroll activities, tax filings, and compliance requirements are met with precision, on time, and with exceptional service to employees and internal teams alike.

Key Responsibilities

  • Independently manage bi-weekly payroll processing through Paycom, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Maintain excellent relationships with internal and external stakeholders, delivering outstanding customer service.
  • Collaborate with the accounting team to research and resolve payroll discrepancies and support seamless payroll processes.
  • Manage all payroll adjustments, manual checks, garnishments, and employee separations, while handling onboarding for new hires.
  • Generate and review payroll reports, reconcile payroll totals, and verify all relevant payroll data.
  • Ensure tax withholding and deposits are accurate and timely for federal, state, and local jurisdictions.
  • Assist with quarterly and annual tax filings, and respond to payroll-related tax inquiries with in-depth research and resolution.
  • Adjust and input tax rates, complete federal and state reporting, and ensure compliance with varied state labor and wage laws.
  • Conduct analysis for payroll-related tax notices and ensure payroll compliance across multiple states.
  • Leverage Excel skills to create essential reports; knowledge of formulas and data management is a must.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; additional education a plus.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in end-to-end payroll and tax processing.
  • Proficiency in multi-state payroll processing, with an emphasis on compliance and accuracy.
  • Strong familiarity with Paycom is highly preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills, particularly with payroll-related inquiries and customer service.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Outlook.
  • Flexibility to adjust work hours as needed to meet payroll deadlines.
