Advanced Practice Provider (PA/NP) — Orthopedic Urgent Care

Schedule: Monday–Thursday 11:00a–7:00p, Friday 11:00a–5:00p

Setting: Outpatient Ortho Urgent Care (walk-ins & same-day appointments)

Employment Type: Full-time

Role Overview:

Join our orthopedic urgent care team who evaluates and treats acute musculoskeletal injuries for adolescent through geriatric patients.

You’ll work alongside orthopedic surgeons, ATCs, PTs, and radiology staff to deliver fast, evidence-based care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform focused MSK evaluations; order and interpret X-rays and basic labs.
  • Diagnose and manage sprains, strains, fractures, tendon/ligament injuries, overuse injuries, and post-op concerns.
  • Perform procedures: splinting/casting, reductions (with support), joint injections/aspirations, wound care, DME fitting.
  • Triage red-flag conditions and coordinate escalation/referrals to subspecialty clinics or ED when indicated.
  • Develop and document treatment plans; prescribe medications per protocol.
  • Collaborate with on-site orthopedists and communicate plans with patients, families, and referring providers.
  • Complete concise documentation in the EMR; support coding/compliance and same-day throughput goals.
  • Participate in quality, safety, and patient experience initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Licensed PA-C or NP (FNP/AGNP/ACNP) with state licensure in good standing.
  • Current DEA; BLS required (ACLS preferred).
  • 1+ year experience in orthopedics, sports medicine, emergency medicine, or urgent care (strong MSK new grads considered).
  • Proficiency in MSK exam, fracture management, and basic imaging interpretation.

Preferred Experience:

  • Casting/splinting competency and closed reduction assistance.
  • Large-joint injections (shoulder/knee) and bursal injections.
  • Worker’s comp/return-to-play documentation familiarity.
