Role Description

We are seeking a highly skilled YouTube & Podcast Editor with a passion for storytelling, audience engagement, and viral content creation . This role goes beyond basic editing—you will be responsible for crafting compelling narratives, creating high-impact trailers and teasers , and optimizing content for maximum reach and engagement. Think the cinematic, emotionally gripping hooks of The Diary of a CEO —that’s the caliber we’re aiming for.

You will be a key player in shaping our content strategy, ensuring our Podcast and YouTube channels stand out in the crowded digital landscape. The ideal candidate is a master of pacing, tension, and emotional resonance , capable of distilling long-form conversations into punchy, highly shareable moments that capture attention in the first few seconds.

This is a contract Podcast & YouTube Editor role at Hyman Health. As an editor, you will be responsible for video production, communication, marketing, video editing, and YouTube content creation. This is an on-site role located in Austin, TX.

Key Responsibilities

1. High-Impact Editing for YouTube & Podcasts

Edit long-form podcast episodes into polished, dynamic YouTube content with strong pacing, storytelling, and engagement strategies.
Cut down episodes into highly compelling short-form content for trailers, teasers, and promotional clips across YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels, and TikTok .
Implement cinematic editing techniques that enhance emotional impact, create intrigue, and keep viewers hooked.
Optimize episodes with captions, graphics, b-roll, animations, and music selection that elevate storytelling and professionalism.

2. Trailer & Teaser Creation – Hook-Driven Content

Develop gripping trailers and teasers that immediately draw in viewers and drive conversions.
Craft hook-first intros that maximize retention and shareability, ensuring videos perform well in YouTube’s algorithm .
Utilize psychological triggers, curiosity gaps, and tension-building techniques to keep audiences engaged.

3. Strategic Optimization & Growth Tactics

Collaborate with the content team to analyze audience behavior and engagement metrics , refining editing strategies to maximize impact.
Work closely with the marketing team to develop content strategies that align with platform trends and audience preferences.
Stay ahead of YouTube and podcasting trends , experimenting with new formats, pacing techniques, and content strategies to boost reach and watch time .
Implement SEO and metadata best practices , including keyword optimization, compelling thumbnails, and strong CTAs to drive engagement.

4. Workflow & Quality Control

Manage end-to-end post-production workflows, ensuring high-quality output and quick turnarounds.
Maintain a strong content library , organizing footage, assets, and archives for efficient access and repurposing.
Ensure consistency in branding, tone, and storytelling , aligning with the overall content vision.

Qualifications

Video Production and Audio & Video Editing skills
Experience in Marketing and YouTube content creation
Knowledge of video production techniques and software
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Background in health and wellness is a plus
Bachelor's degree in Film Production, Communication, Marketing, or related field
