Job Description

Waterfall Asset Management, LLC is an SEC-registered alternative investment manager focused on specialty finance opportunities within asset-backed credit, whole loans, real assets, and private equity. Job Description

The Associate role within the Private Asset-Backed Credit group will include responsibility for assisting with the origination, underwriting, and portfolio management of private investments, which may include asset-backed credit facilities, portfolio acquisitions, and structured equity investments.

Specific job responsibilities include :

  • Assist with origination and sourcing efforts to identify private investment opportunities.
  • Collect, organize, evaluate and summarize investment opportunities by reviewing teasers, pitch decks and emails, and participating in meetings.
  • Participate in underwriting and closing private investments.
  • Work with team members to conduct diligence, negotiate and document transaction terms, develop financial and cash flow models, and prepare investment memoranda.
  • Communicate with and maintain active dialogue with Wall Street relationships including banking, sales and trading, and research, as well as other investment counterparties.
  • Monitor, surveil and value current and prospective portfolio investments.
  • Develop and maintain investment surveillance reports.
  • Manage any amendments, waivers or investment restructuring processes.
  • Coordinate periodic audits and reviews with risk and valuation teams.
  • Monitoring market trends to develop views on potential credit and market-related events and attend industry conferences.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in a role focused on asset-backed credit.
  • Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS).
  • Knowledge of asset-backed credit fundamentals, with a focus on cash flow analysis.
  • Experience structuring, negotiating and closing asset-backed credit investments.
  • Familiarity with asset-backed credit documentation and legal considerations.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to maintain relationships with third parties including: borrowers, bankers, co-lenders, lawyers, servicers and team members.
  • Strong project management skills to manage a large volume of workflow in demanding and dynamic environment.
  • Highly organized, self-motivated, diligent, and detail oriented.
  • Significant initiative and team orientation required.
