Job Description

Job Description: Project Designer

Position Overview

At Apex Design Build, we are passionate about transforming private healthcare practices into dynamic, inspiring spaces through our comprehensive design-build approach. As an established leader in the commercial design-build industry, we manage every phase of a project—from initial visioning and conceptual design to architectural development and construction execution. We are seeking a talented Project Designer to join our growing team and help shape the future of healthcare design.

The ideal candidate will be a creative thinker with strong design sensibilities and the ability to collaborate across disciplines. You will work closely with clients, internal teams, and external partners to develop innovative, functional, and aesthetically compelling spaces that align with our client’s goals and brand identity. If you thrive in a collaborative environment and are driven to see your designs come to life, we want to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

Collaborate with clients to understand their goals, vision, and functional requirements, leading programming sessions and capturing essential project parameters such as schedule, budget, and design intent.

Develop thoughtful and innovative design concepts, including test fits, space planning, schematic design, color palettes, conceptual sketches, and FF&E (Furniture, Fixtures, and Equipment) specifications.

Create detailed design documentation, including conceptual and design development drawings, reflective ceiling plans, finish plans and schedules, and 3D Revit views to communicate design intent effectively.

Coordinate with vendors, consultants, and contractors to ensure seamless integration of design elements throughout the project lifecycle.

Participate in construction documentation and administration phases, providing design clarifications, reviewing submittals, and conducting site visits to ensure alignment with design objectives.

Contribute to project reviews, including existing conditions surveys, millwork shop drawings, engineering documents, punch list reviews, and on-site job meetings as needed.

Stay current with industry trends, materials, and best practices to continuously enhance our design solutions.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field.

3-5 years of professional design experience, preferably within commercial or healthcare environments.

Proficiency in Revit, with experience creating 3D models and rendering design concepts.

Strong working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).

Familiarity with Bluebeam Revu for project documentation and collaboration.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present ideas effectively to both clients and team members.

Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.

Self-motivated, organized, and detail-oriented with a commitment to delivering high-quality work.

Collaborative mindset and a willingness to contribute to a supportive, team-oriented culture.

What We Offer

Opportunity to be part of a growing firm that values innovation and excellence in design.

Collaborative and supportive team culture focused on professional growth and continuous learning.

Competitive compensation and benefits package.

Exposure to all phases of the design-build process, providing a well-rounded understanding of project delivery.

Join Us If you are passionate about creating meaningful spaces and want to be part of a firm that prioritizes design excellence and client satisfaction, Apex Design Build is the place for you. Bring your creativity, energy, and expertise to help us shape the future of healthcare environments through thoughtful and impactful design solutions.
