Job Description

We are currently seeking a Propulsion Deputy Manager for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) White Sands Test Facility (WSTF) in Propulsion Department in Las Cruses, New Mexico.

Secret Security Clearance or Top-Secret Clearance is required for this position .

As a Deputy Propulsion Manager, you will:

• Test and operations of complex propulsion projects
• lead propulsion systems development/testing projects
• Oversight includes project management, technical performance, team coordination, and personnel development
• The Propulsion Deputy Manager will collaborate with the Propulsion Department Manager and NASA customer on strategic, innovative, and cost-effective solutions for current and future operations that align with the NASA vision
• Reports to the Propulsion Department Manager and will assist in managing a team of approximately 120 individuals consisting of project leaders, engineers, technicians, IT professionals, and administrative staff.
• Be responsible for coordinating and monitoring the scheduling, pricing, and technical performance of the contract, ensuring adherence to task plans and schedules under time and budgetary constraints.They will be interacting regularly with customers and other industry representatives to ensure conformance to customer requirements
• Support business development activities with regards to cost and schedule performance management
• encourage personnel development and cultivate a positive work environment

Basic Qualifications:

• BS degree in engineering, engineering management or related field, MS preferred.
• Must have secret clearance or a top-secret clearance
• lead propulsion systems development/testing projects
• Leadership experience includes guidance and oversight of 100+ employees, ability to lead large technical teams and provide mission-related support
• Must have project management experience in a dynamic testing or operations environment requiring prioritization of complex projects and integration of dynamic schedules.
• 10 years of project management experience to include direct project management experience over multiple projects.
• Must have highly effective, professional interpersonal and communication skills.

Preferred qualifications:

• PMP – Certification
• Experience in and/or facilities for NASA or DoD. Strong background with test PMgt, test conduct, and propulsion hardware and test-related operations, engineering, maintenance, QA, safety, and environmental assurance is highly desired.
