Job Description

Position Overview: We are seeking a Biomedical Engineer or a similar professional to support the development of products in the field of tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. This role involves assisting with lab-based research and preclinical studies under the supervision of a manager, aiming to enhance patient outcomes in areas such as sports medicine, orthopedics, general surgery, and wound healing. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for advancing scientific knowledge and contributing to meaningful healthcare solutions. Key responsibilities include conducting experiments, documenting and analyzing results, maintaining the laboratory, and collaborating with the manager.

Key Responsibilities:

Research and Development

  • Follow technical documents, including standard operating procedures and test protocols, to independently perform experiments aligned with project goals set by the manager.
  • Record methodologies and results, conduct basic data analysis, and present findings to the manager for further discussion and planning of subsequent experiments.

Lab Maintenance and Safety

  • Perform general laboratory maintenance, including cleaning lab equipment and glassware, organizing the lab space, and conducting device preventative maintenance.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external vendors for ordering supplies and managing inventory.
  • Work with third-party vendors for essential lab services, such as device calibration and hazardous waste disposal.

Documentation

  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of all experimental work in laboratory notebooks and other documents.
  • Present experimental data in regularly scheduled lab meetings.

Team Collaboration and Communication

  • Meet regularly with the manager (daily to weekly) to receive assignments, discuss results, and plan next steps.
  • Collaborate with other lab members and teams in R&D to maintain a safe, organized, and cost-effective laboratory environment.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in laboratory experimentation, including managing multiple samples and running concurrent experiments with minimal supervision.
  • Expertise in maintaining a detailed laboratory notebook and documenting experiments in real-time.
  • Strong data analysis skills, with the ability to handle large datasets with high accuracy.
  • Understanding of experimental design, including concepts of controlled experiments and statistical power.
  • Knowledge of daily lab operations, including lab safety, hazardous waste disposal, and best laboratory practices.
  • Familiarity with various statistical analysis methods.
  • Experience with the following laboratory techniques (preferred but not required):
  • Sterile techniques training
  • Buffer preparation
  • Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA)
  • Protein isolation from tissue
  • Colorimetric assays (e.g., BCA)
  • Dialysis
  • SDS-PAGE/Western blot
  • Tissue culture
  • PCR
