Role Description

We are seeking an experienced RF Electrical Engineer to join our dynamic team. The Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing RF electronics systems including software-defined radios, RF front-end components, antennas and supporting digital and power avionics across drone, airborne, and satellite platforms. This role requires a deep understanding of RF / electrical engineering principles, hands-on experience with schematic capture and PCB layout, and proficiency in Altium Designer.

Key Responsibilities:

  • System Specifications: Define system specifications and requirements, including calibration paths, and select appropriate components to meet performance objectives.
  • RF Front-End Development: Design and develop wide-bandwidth, low-noise, and high-stability RF front-end components for diverse remote sensing satellite applications, ensuring durability and reliability.
  • Performance Analysis: Conduct system link budget calculations, noise figure analysis, and S-parameter analysis to optimize system performance.
  • Schematic and PCB Design: Create detailed schematics and PCB layouts using Altium Designer, adhering to industry standards and best practices.
  • Prototype Development: Interface RF front-end components with RF System-on-Chip (RFSoC) and Universal Software Radio Peripheral (USRP) platforms. Oversee the fabrication and testing of prototypes, including performance evaluation in anechoic chambers.
  • Payload Development: Develop digital and power avionics subsystems on payloads for drone and airborne test platforms, including design, schematic creation, layout, fabrication, and testing.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience: 5+ years of post-graduate experience in RF / electrical hardware design, ideally with application to radar systems

  • Technical Skills:
  • Strong understanding of RF and microwave engineering principles.
  • Experience with system link budget calculations and performance analyses.
  • Proficiency in schematic capture and PCB layout using Altium Designer.
  • Familiarity with RF test equipment and measurement techniques.

  • Soft Skills:
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the defense or aerospace industry.
  • Familiarity with software-defined radio (SDR) platforms.
  • Knowledge of antenna design and testing.

Benefits:

  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
  • Opportunities for professional development and career advancement.
  • Collaborative and innovative work environment.

Application Process: Interested candidates are invited to submit their resume and a cover letter detailing their relevant experience and qualifications to info@aperture.space. Please include "RF Electrical Engineer Application" in the subject line. **Applicant must be a US Citizen.**
