The Safety Director will lead the company's safety operations across all active job sites, overseeing a team of regional safety professionals and working closely with project management, operations, and the executive team. This role requires deep knowledge of commercial construction safety, training and onboarding best practices, and the ability to influence and communicate at the C-suite level .
Key ResponsibilitiesLead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the company's safety policies, programs, and culture.
Oversee safety performance and compliance on all commercial construction projects across Texas.
Serve as the primary liaison between field safety teams, project leadership, and executive leadership (CEO, COO, VPs).
Conduct executive-level reporting on TRIR, leading indicators, safety trends, and risk mitigation strategies.
Drive onboarding and safety orientation processes for all new field staff and subcontractors.
Design and deliver internal training programs (e.g., OSHA 30, fall protection, hazard recognition, toolbox talks).
Lead investigations into incidents, near misses, and claims; oversee root cause analysis and corrective actions.
Partner with HR and Operations on policy updates, training documentation, and compliance records.
Ensure alignment with OSHA, ANSI, and other regulatory standards and client safety requirements.
Travel to regional job sites for audits, coaching, and team support (~20-30%).
8-10+ years of progressive safety experience in commercial construction environments.
Proven experience in a director-level safety role or equivalent; strong preference for experience interfacing with C-level leaders.
Strong understanding of OSHA, ANSI, and construction industry best practices.
Experience developing and managing onboarding and training programs.
Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to travel within Texas on a weekly basis (~1-2 days/week).
Certifications preferred: CHST, CSP, OSHA 500, or equivalent.
