Job Description

Highland Consulting Group, a construction specific recruiting firm specializing in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast regions, is partnered with a growing mechanical contractor in the Long Island, NY area to find a Safety Manager .

This is a permanent position that will be overseeing all safety concerns for the company. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of safety experience within the construction industry. Knowledge of mechanical construction projects, particularly HVAC, is desired but not required. This is a permanent position working in the 5 boroughs and northern New Jersey.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and modify the company’s health and safety program as needed.
  • Coordinate and present tool box talks.
  • Will assign and monitor online training.
  • Will audit job site safety and conduct hazard assessments.
  • Wil review all claims, perform root cause analysis and ensure that reports are submitted.
  • Create and monitor safety program budget.
  • Provide monthly reporting of incidents, training, etc.

Requirements:

  • 2+ years of safety management experience, preferably within a construction environment.
  • A minimum of an OSHA 30 certification. Other certifications are encouraged.
  • Experience doing site safety audits and providing corrective action and training.
  • Knowledge of mechanical construction site safety issues is desired.
  • Experience performing root cause analysis.
  • Solid communication skills – both written & verbal.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Salary range for this role is expected to be from $75,000.00 – $90,000.00 dependent upon experience.
