Construction Safety Manager – Wilson, NC

Details:

📍 Location: Wilson, NC

⏳ Duration: 6+ Months (Start 11/10)

💼 Type: 1099 Contractor

💲 Pay: $59.50/hr (Local) | $50/hr (Non-Local)

💰 Per Diem: $125/day (7 days/week if over 50 miles)

🎯 Completion Bonus: $150/month

🗓 Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8-hour shifts (weekends as needed)

📅 Pay Frequency: Weekly

Project Scope

Serve as the Site Safety Owner's Representative overseeing multiple construction projects at Merck's pharmaceutical manufacturing facility. Projects include:

• Installation of new packaging lines
• Renovation of walls, ceilings, lighting, and flooring
• HVAC and electrical system upgrades
• Roof membrane replacement
• New parking lot construction

Qualifications

• OSHA 510 certification
• Minimum 5 years of construction safety experience

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments
• Support incident investigations, document findings, and implement corrective actions
• Lead safety orientations and training for employees, subcontractors, and new hires
• Partner with project teams to identify and mitigate safety risks proactively
• Maintain accurate safety performance, compliance, and incident documentation
• Promote a proactive, safety-first culture across all levels of the organization

Skills & Knowledge

Skills:

• Strong communication and public speaking abilities
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
• Excellent organizational and multitasking skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively
• Professional discretion with confidential information

Knowledge:

• Comprehensive understanding of EHS and construction safety regulations
• Ability to clearly communicate and enforce safety principles and standards
