About the role

We're looking for a social media strategist who will be responsible for overseeing the agency’s social media services for clients. This role develops social media strategy alongside content strategy, collaborates with core agency/client team(s), and is the lead on optimizing current social media products and services as well as developing new ones that integrate seamlessly and amplify across all client’s needs. This role also collaborates with creative to deliver on-strategy content and messaging.

Responsibilities

  • Drive strategic thinking on social across the organization: Work directly with clients and cross-functional disciplines to lead strategic planning, build digital experience strategies and programs that reflect changes in user behaviors, technology, and the competitive landscape. Provide oversight and serve as an advocate of the brand voice on social media channels through content optimization and moderation activities.

  • Lead and support organic and paid social media strategies: Lead planning and execution of organic and paid social media initiatives. Manage social media status updates and support strategic conversations and investigation. Lead and/or oversee paid social media implementation in collaboration with the channel/paid media team.

  • Audit existing social media programs for clients: Evaluate the strategy and implementation of clients’ social media programs, monitor the current chatter taking place about clients on social networks, research the social media presence of clients’ competitors, and provide strategic recommendations for program improvements.

  • Ongoing social media monitoring: Monitor the online conversation around client’s issues and its brand, deliver reports on social media stats and trending topics, provide recommendations on how to leverage online conversations to convert new fans, recruits, and optimize client profiles on an ongoing basis.

  • Run campaigns: Plan and execute a variety of campaigns across social media channels, including, but not limited to, advocacy, recruitment, audience/activists’ growth, event organizing, brand visibility, awareness/supporter education and product/content promotion.

  • Monitor social media trends: Regularly monitor and evaluate the social media landscape for effective new tools, trends, and strategies.

  • Bolster company-wide social media knowledgebase: Represent the agency at industry conferences and training, lead internal staff trainings, knowledge-sharing processes, and develop internal resource and best practice documents.

  • Steward career growth for direct reports; reviews, ongoing career path communication, etc.

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, marketing, or related discipline
  • 6+ years’ experience of integrated social marketing program development
  • 3 – 5 years experience leading social media strategies
  • Deep professional background in campaign organizing, marketing and/or online communications
  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking
  • Collaborative mindset for working with passionate creative team
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering in-person presentations
