Job Description

Stratus is s eeking a highly skilled SQL Developer with 7–10 years of professional experience in SQL development, ideally within a financial or insurance environment. This individual will be a critical member of the IT Finance team, playing a key role in supporting and enhancing our Finance/Reporting systems and operational processes. The role is NYC area-based and requires strong technical capabilities, a commitment to learning our business, and a long-term vision.

Key Responsibilities:

• Serve as a core developer and support resource for Finance-related systems and processes.
• Develop, troubleshoot, and optimize complex MS SQL queries, stored procedures, and database solutions.
• Collaborate with the IT Finance BAU Team Lead to learn, document, and support various financial applications and workflows at a granular level.
• Provide application support for Finance systems, including support for monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close activities.
• Take ownership of assigned BAU activities and projects, including development, analysis, and unit testing.
• Learn and document the Artemis application and its operational aspects.
• Work toward becoming the primary backup for key IT Finance processes currently managed by consultants, reducing dependency on external contractors.

Qualifications:

• 7–10 years of hands-on experience with SQL development; must be proficient with Microsoft SQL Server (MS SQL).
• Strong knowledge of Azure development tools and environment.
• Experience or understanding of Insurance Accounting/Reconciliation is a plus.
• Willingness to learn finance domain-specific applications and processes.
• Excellent documentation, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
• Able to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.
• Strong communication skills to collaborate across Finance and IT teams.
