Job Description

Our client is a successful Real Estate firm that has been in active for 25 years, with properties and developments through the southeast.

The Vice President of Finance will be the CFO’s right hand — a trusted lieutenant and operational anchor who ensures Finance runs smoothly, proactively solves problems, and drives strategic execution. As the senior-most leader under the CFO, this individual will take full ownership of day-to-day financial operations as well as provide leadership across capital markets, treasury, tax compliance, and FP&A.

The expectation would be for this role to ensure operational excellence while contributing to long-term strategy. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on execution, can lead cross-functional initiatives, and is motivated by making their leader — and the broader organization — more effective.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Finance & Business Partnership

  • Lead Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) across the enterprise.
  • Act as the primary liaison between Finance and executive leadership, including Real Estate team leaders.
  • Develop and update investment budgets, conduct variance analysis, and forecast cash flows.
  • Provide strategic insights and execution support on capital deployment and return optimization.

Accounting & Financial Operations

  • Oversee the accounting functions, partnering with the outsourced accounting / audit partner.
  • Ensure accuracy in all financial statements, ad hoc reporting, and entity-level budgeting.

Capital Markets & Treasury

  • Co-lead capital markets efforts with VP – Capital Markets, managing debt facilities and banking relationships.
  • Oversee covenant tracking, term sheet evaluations, and credit scenario modeling.
  • Track deposit interest, manage account signers, and oversee treasury audits.

Tax Compliance & Planning

  • Support the tax strategy alongside Director of Tax and external firms.
  • Brainstorm and implement tax-efficient solutions in coordination with real estate teams.

Compliance & Governance

  • Coordinate with legal and compliance teams to ensure regulatory adherence.
  • Prepare for board meetings, support quarterly compliance reviews, and maintain documentation.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years in senior finance leadership, preferably within real estate.
  • CPA, CFA, or MBA strongly preferred.
  • Strong experience in investor accounting, complex tax structures, and cross-border compliance.
  • Skilled in financial software (Yardi or equivalent).
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and manage multiple stakeholders.
