Electrical Technician with AutoCAD Experience

We are seeking a skilled Electrical Technician with AutoCAD experience to join their dynamic team.

Job Summary:

The Electrical Technician will be responsible for supporting the design, development, and installation of electrical systems and control panels for conveyor systems. This role requires proficiency in AutoCAD for creating and modifying electrical schematics, a strong understanding of electrical design principles, and hands-on experience with panel building and wiring. The ideal candidate will collaborate with engineers and project managers to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and draft electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts using AutoCAD.
  • Build, wire, and test electrical control panels for conveyor systems.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical issues during installation, commissioning, and maintenance of conveyor systems.
  • Collaborate with mechanical engineers and project teams to integrate electrical systems with conveyor designs.
  • Ensure compliance with electrical codes, standards (e.g., NEC, UL), and safety regulations.
  • Assist in the specification and selection of electrical components, such as motors, sensors, PLCs, and VFDs.
  • Provide technical support during on-site installations and client training.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of designs, modifications, and project specifications.
  • Participate in project planning, including estimating materials and labor requirements.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and best practices in electrical design and conveyor systems.

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 2+ years of experience in electrical design, panel building, or related technical roles.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD for creating and modifying electrical schematics and panel layouts.
  • Strong understanding of electrical design principles, including power distribution, control circuits, and motor controls.
  • Hands-on experience with wiring, assembling, and testing electrical control panels.
  • Familiarity with PLCs, VFDs, sensors, and other automation components commonly used in conveyor systems.
  • Knowledge of electrical codes and standards (e.g., NEC, UL, OSHA).
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Willingness to travel to client sites for installations and support as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the conveyor or material handling industry.
  • Familiarity with PLC programming or HMI development.
  • Certification in AutoCAD or related electrical design software.
  • Experience with other CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Revit) is a plus.
