Job Description

This self-starting, creative, relationship manager and event planner is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive special events program that nurtures positive relationships with campus stakeholders and encourages their active participation in campus events, including the annual VCS Gala and the Whole in One golf tournament. 

The  E vents  Manager  reports to, and works closely with, the Executive Director and provides support to the SSMO Foundation team. 

The  schedule of this position is flexible to meet the demands of events.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain connection with c ampus  constituency
  • Manage and direct the p lanning, logistics and execution of the VCS Gala, sign up parties, Whole in One golf tournament, New Parent Social and dedications/donor receptions
  • Identify, cultivate and steward event volunteers
  • Support e vent marketing with  outreach and communication
  • Collaborate with Director of Development and L ight a Fire  to plan each year’s special appeal
  • Develop new committee roles and responsibilities as needed e.g., p rocurement committee
 
Support  the SSMO Campus  Community
  • Use multi-channel communication to promote campus events, news and updates
  • Update webpages with information pertaining to events  in a timely fashion (e.g. e vent  information, event registration links) 
  • Recruit, organize and manage  event  volunteers at events including the VCS Gala, Whole in One golf tournament, and NPS
  • Assist a lumni relations manager in bringing alumni to fundraising  events
  • Assist in the production of the annual giving reports
  • Ensure accuracy of donor  records in  GG database
  • Track event data and metrics to assure high quality, responsive events that work for the community
  • Maintain responsibility for the events office budget by controlling expenses, monitoring revenues, and forecasting for future years
  • Participate in department meetings and professional development programs in addition to committees and activities as required
  • Support other SSMO Foundation-sponsored events
  • P rovide logistics support for in-person SSMO Foundation Board meetings as per Exec Director
  • Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of the SSMO Foundation
 
Qualifications
  • Values consistent with the mission of t he Sisters of St. Mary of Oregon  
  • College degree required 
  • Excellent interpersonal, writing, and presentation skills
  • Familiarity with computer software/applications, including G reaterGiving,  Raiser’s Edge, MailChimp and Google Workspace
  • Self-starter, ability to work without direct supervision, effective multitasking capabilities
  • Flexibility with work schedule and availability to work weekends and evenings when necessary 
  • Ability to recruit and supervise volunteers
  • Ability to work with sensitive information and maintain confidentiality 

The E vents Manager must be customer service-oriented, well organized, and collaborative. Excellent written and oral communication skills are a must. The candidate must also have the ability to work independently. This person must maintain the disposition to effectively represent the Sisters of St. Mary of Oregon and their sponsored ministries.
