Job Description

The House Manager serves as the primary point of contact for managing the daily functions of the formal household and overseeing the housekeeping, laundry, culinary and service members of the team. The House Manager works closely with the Property Manager on systems/procedures to create competences and identify any areas for improvement. Proficient communication, organization and collaboration skills and ability to pivot are required as daily tasks and priorities are everchanging. This position requires flexibility and willingness to work additional hours as needed upon request.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee staff, coordinate, and supervise daily operations in the estate, delegate appropriately, and ensure task completion by staff members.
  • Lead Weekly staff meetings to set priorities and go over planned events.
  • Coordinate principals’ travel arrangements with staff of other residences and principals’ offices.
  • Liaise with principals’ offices on additional needs (reservations, printing, errands, additional events, etc).
  • Manage inventory and storage with Property Manager.
  • Maintain daily, weekly, monthly, yearly, seasonal maintenance schedule and create program to manage all property needs and upkeep.
  • Support for meetings in the residence (zoom setups).
  • Create and manage databases, principals, guests, gifts, preferences, etc.
  • Maintain file systems for household operations.
  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of household manuals.
  • Assist with large interior projects, always leading by example.
  • Reviewing and approving vendor invoices.
  • Oversee estate organizational projects.
  • Maintain household inventories and supplies.
  • Update, create and maintain detailed Property Manuals.
  • Organize household efficiently and with highest standards of service.
  • Liaise with chef and culinary department regarding menus, shopping, and pantry management.
  • Oversee packing and wardrobe maintenance.
  • Tend to principal and guests’ requests and needs.
