Hiring Range $18.00 - $20.25 About This Position The Painter performs skilled painting and finishing work in the maintenance, repair, and renovation of university buildings, facilities, and equipment. This position is responsible for preparing, painting, and finishing interior and exterior surfaces of structures, equipment, furniture, and fixtures to maintain a safe, attractive, and functional campus environment. The Painter ensures that all work meets established quality standards, adheres to university brand and color guidelines, and complies with applicable safety and environmental regulations. Working under general supervision, the Painter interprets work orders, determines appropriate materials and methods, and completes assignments efficiently with minimal disruption to campus operations. The role collaborates closely with other Facilities team members—including carpentry, electrical, and mechanical trades—to support preventive maintenance, renovations, and special projects across all university properties. Must use appropriate personal protective equipment as required (gloves, safety glasses, etc.). These items are not for personal use. Employee in this position is required to work overtime when work requires. Employee in this position is required to work shift work when work can't be accomplished during regular hours, and when the Management staff deems necessary. Must be able to perform snow and ice removal tasks and respond at any time of the day or night when scheduled by management requiring you to come into work regardless of the weather conditions. Some irregular and extra hours as needed for projects and emergencies. Emergencies frequently involve difficult working conditions. This may require work during nonbusiness hours which include evenings, Saturdays, Sundays and when the University is closed. Perform other assigned duties related to operations, maintenance and renovations to buildings and equipment such as preventive maintenance, light duty carpentry, painting, and other miscellaneous repairs and maintenance activities, and respond to emergency and urgent work.
