Position Overview:
The Pet Food Nutritionist will be a lead consultant, orchestrating the development, implementation, and management of nutrition-related initiatives and programs within our organization, with a focus on client management including communication, project management, writing, and formulation and review of complete and balanced diets in all formats, supplements, and treats. This role will be pivotal in guiding the organization’s nutrition strategies, especially in areas such as Nutrition Education Programs and Quality Control Programs. The Nutritionist will ensure that all initiatives align with company and departmental goals, maintaining the highest standards of nutrition and quality.
Key Responsibilities:
· Client Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, providing expert guidance, advise, and managing relationships to ensure satisfaction and program success. Technical skills required:
o Project Management
o Technical and education writing
o Research review and recommendations on study design
o Relationship building excellence
· Project Management: Oversee the management of key projects within BSM Partners, including Nutrition Education Programs and Quality Control Programs, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the standard required.
o Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to develop and implement innovative nutrition solutions tailored to client needs.
o Monitor the effectiveness of programs and projects through data analysis, adjusting strategies as necessary to improve outcomes.
o Ensure compliance with regulatory standards alongside internal Regulatory Practice in all client products, including food safety and quality control.
o Stay up to date with the latest developments in veterinary nutrition and related regulations, using this knowledge to drive continuous improvement in programs and services.
o Anticipate client and market needs.
Qualifications:
· Board-Certified Veterinary Nutritionist or Board-Eligible Veterinary Nutritionist.
· Strong leadership experience, preferably within the manufacture of commercial pet products.
· Proven ability to manage key projects, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and client expectations.
· Proven ability to adapt the messaging to the audience, in order to maximize impact
· Ability to be flexible and open minded, and to balance client needs and wants with personal and nutritional beliefs.
· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a focus on client engagement and team leadership.
· Knowledge of quality control processes, regulations, and best practices in veterinary nutrition.
· Knowledge of the pet food industry including, but not limited to, AAFCO, FEDIAF, FDA, ingredient functionality, palatability, equipment/processing, and regulatory requirements
· 5+ years in the pet food industry
